Come celebrate the work and times of the Great Bard with us. See Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens transform into an Elizabethan pageant of music, craft, botanic discoveries and Shakespearian delights, highlighted by outdoor performances of Midsummer's Mechanicals (A Midsummer Nigiht's Dream) and Instant Romeo and Juliet by the Queensland Shakespeare Ensemble.
Enjoy themed music from Brisbane Municipal Concert Band conducted by David Jones at midday at the bandstand.
Take a guided walk to view the flowers and plants featured throughout Shakespeare's plays. Watch the fencing (Prima Spada) and Morris dancing (Belswagger Morris) displays, or even try your own hand at Morris dancing. Watch the mad monk explain the ins and outs of making Tudor beer and check out what's cooking in the Elizabethan Kitchen.
Bring a picnic lunch and blanket to spread on the Bandstand lawn and make a day of it at the Botanic Gardens.
